Bloggers — those Internet-based writers without rules — are fighting back against criticism that their work is unreliable, libellous or just poorly done.
We're not the ones who helped lie this nation into a war, remember?
We're not the ones who insisted Iraq had WMDs, remember?
We're not the ones who insisted Iraq was helping Al Qaeda, remember?
We're not the ones who insisted Iraq was behind 9-11, remember?

The mainstream media is about sales, sales of products, sales of government policy. The mainstream media has lost the battle for the control of the minds of America; last week's Gallup polls proved that. Blogs hold the high ground in the flow of information in the US, despite the absence of "gloss", for one simple reason.
We're giving people what they want. We give people the truth.

Why media shouldn’t take sides in the ‘war on terror’§ion=opinion&col=
The idea that Al Qaeda is a global organisation with coordinated global aims and branches everywhere is ludicrous.

In order to build readers' confidence, an internal committee at The New York Times has recommended taking a variety of steps.

Now we have gone beyond simple error into outright propaganda. Abu Farraj al-Libbi was NOT captured in Pakistan last week; they got the wrong guy. The foreign papers are reporting the error, but the US Mainstream Media, having invested so much of itself into waving Abu Farraj al-Libbi at us in the latest "booga booga", refuse to back down and admit it was all Horse Shit.

Over the weekend, I came across three different FOX News reports gushing about the importance of the capture of "Number three Al Qaeda member" Abu Faraj al-Libbi. But, as of this writing, I can find no information on the FOX News website about the report in the The Sunday Times that the capture is a case of mistaken identity.

Author Claims Bush Admin Complicit in 9/11 Americans interpret the events of Sept. 11 in one of four ways, Griffin said:
• A first group accepts the official interpretation that Sept. 11 was a surprise attack by Islamic terrorists. It is easy for these people “to think of America’s so-called War on Terror as a just war,” Griffin said.
• A second group accepts the official line but thinks Sept. 11 has been used opportunistically by the Bush administration to extend the American empire. People who hold this view often believe that America’s response to Sept. 11, which has led to hundreds of thousands of deaths, is far worse than the attacks themselves, he said.
• A third group believes the Bush administration knew the attacks were coming and let them happen. It shows the government as “deliberate and cold-blooded,” advancing its imperial designs while hypocritically portraying itself as promoting a “culture of life,” Griffin said.
Although there has been no national survey, a Zogby poll taken last year indicated that almost half of the residents of New York City share this view, he said.
• A fourth group believes that the government orchestrated the attacks. While no poll shows how many Americans believe this, polls in Canada and Germany have found as many as 20 percent of those populations do, Griffin said.

As to September 11, 2001, Daddy Bush was part of the prior-made plan. There was to be three or more mock attacks. The real attack was to use these scheduled maneuvers, for the same early morning September 11, 2001, to confuse those in the FAA, Norad, and the U.S. Military. The result was a military stand-down. Like Pearl Harbor, 3,000 American lives were thrown away.

Q Is there any contradiction in all of his talk about open societies and freedom and free speech, and yet every city we go to is virtually locked down when we come through it, mostly for security reasons? Doesn't it send a message that he's coming through locked-down cities?

Commemorating a World War - And starting another one
Our policy toward Russia brings out the underlying theme of American foreign policy, which is not Democracy but Domination – American domination, that is. In the endless search for enemies that keeps the interventionists perpetually busy, it is Russia's turn, once again, to play the bogeyman. We can only hope that the Fourth World War, like the Third, will remain a cold war.

The crowd that gathered in Freedom Square and spilled over into downtown streets numbered at least in the tens of thousands; Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili estimated 150,000 showed up, and the White House put it at 250,000.

A highly classified British memo, leaked in the midst of Britain's just-concluded election campaign, indicates that President Bush decided to overthrow Iraqi President Saddam Hussein by summer 2002 and was determined to ensure that U.S. intelligence data supported his policy.
The memo said "the intelligence and facts were being fixed around the policy."

Eighty-eight members of Congress call on Bush for answers on secret Iraq plan
Eighty-eight members of Congress have signed a letter authored by Rep. John Conyers (D-MI) calling on President Bush to answer questions about a secret U.S.-UK agreement to attack Iraq.

Why the bourgeoisie back war is another matter. It is self-evidently not in their interest. The government gains power at their expense. It spends their money and runs up debt that is paid out of taxes and inflation. It fosters the creation of permanent enemies abroad who then work to diminish our security at home. It leads to the violation of privacy and civil liberty. War is incompatible with a government that leaves people alone to develop their lives in an atmosphere of freedom.
That seems to be just about where people stand these days with the Iraq War. Iraq is a mess, hundreds of thousands are killed and maimed, billions of dollars are missing, the debt is astronomical, and the world seethes in hatred toward the conquering empire. And what does the warmongering middle class have to say for itself? Pretty much what you might expect: nothing.

CRAWFORD — The Lone Star Iconoclast last week conducted a test by asking 20 Texans, representing all walks of life and from different territories of the state, “What are your views on depleted uranium?”Nineteen had no clue what the interviewer was talking about. One offered, “Isn’t that the stuff that’s hauled away from nuclear power plants?”
None knew that depleted uranium (DU) is radioactive material being used in military ammunition and none knew that the U.S. military is utilizing weapons to launch these nuclear DU projectiles in Iraq.

Less than one week after the Anointed One declared: “I believe we are making good progress in Iraq because the Iraqi people are beginning to see the benefits of a free society,” a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll revealed that 57% of those polled thought it wasn’t worth it to go into Iraq. 56% said that the Iraq invasion was going "badly," up from 45% the preceding month. Hmmm.
Somehow, in spite of celebrity trials and sprinting brides, folks are beginning to smell the truth. And it smells like burnt flesh. Last Friday, at least 67 Iraqis were killed by suicide bombers. Over a dozen bodies were found in a garbage dump, all blindfolded and shot in the head, execution-style. Thursday? Bomb blasts and ambushes killed at least two dozen. Wednesday? At least 60 civilians were blown up. Nine Iraqi soldiers were killed by a car bomb, as well.

U.S. says up to 4 Marines, 100 militants slain; Baghdad blasts

While some American units were able to conduct limited raids north of the Euphrates on Sunday, most of the rest were trapped south of the river while Army engineers struggled to build a pontoon bridge across it.
As the bridging unit approached the river crossing early Sunday, they switched off the truck headlights even though many soldiers lacked night-vision goggles. In the gloom, one truck rolled off the road and into a ditch, bringing the column to a dead halt in the darkness.

"Intelligence" leads Marines into a trap?
U.S. military officials in Baghdad said forces that crossed the Euphrates had killed six insurgents and captured 54 more, using information gleaned from a captured aide to terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.

Marines surprised by insurgent's preparation for attack
As they pushed from house to house in early fighting, trying to flush out the insurgents who had attacked their column with mortar fire, the Marines ran into sandbagged emplacements behind garden walls. Commanders said Marines also found a house where insurgents were crouching in the basement, firing rifles and machine guns upward through holes at ankle height in the ground-floor walls, aiming at spots that the Marines' body armor did not cover.

The Marine Corps issued to nearly 10,000 troops body armor that military ballistic experts had urged the Marines to reject after tests revealed life-threatening flaws in the vests, an eight-month investigation by Marine Corps Times has found.
So, now the US gives soldiers ineffective body armor so they feel bullet proof and will obey orders to go where they might be shot.

So when do we get invaded to remove the rogue government that spies on its own people, gases its own people during anti War protests, stages "terrorist" attacks, holds crooked elections, attacks other nations without cause, and uses torture on innocent people looking for WMD that don't exist?
