Any move to use full-scale sanctions against Iran, let alone military action, could send world oil prices rocketing and reopen some of the international rifts opened by the Iraq war.

"We are asking them to step down from their ivory towers and act with a little logic," the 48-year-old leader told reporters. The West suspects Iran is seeking nuclear arms. Tehran says its atomic program aims only to generate electricity.

The growing concerns about Iran's nuclear program contributed to a surge in gold prices in London today, traders said. Gold traded above $562 an ounce for the first time since January 1981. Gold is sometimes seen as a safe investment in times of crisis.

The dispute over Iran also helped push oil prices higher in European trading amid mounting concern that any punitive international move against Iran could disrupt output from the world's fourth-largest oil exporter and OPEC's second-largest producer.

The current cockeyed propaganda twists have Europe and America uniting at the UN against Iran. In March, Iran is supposed to be switching the sale of their oil from American dollars to Euros. That would make the American dollar no longer the foundation for the world's economy. So why, if Europe does NOT want to support Iran, would they allow the Euro to replace the American dollar as the oil currency?

So when do we get invaded to remove the rogue government that spies on its own people, gases its own people during anti War protests, stages "terrorist" attacks, holds crooked elections, attacks other nations without cause, and uses torture on innocent people looking for WMD that don't exist?
