This weekend's top movie, horror spoof Scary Movie 4, has Leslie Nielsen as a president who, while sitting in a classroom during story time, ignores an aide's warning that the country is under attack by aliens because he wants to "see what happens to the duck." It's a jab at the minutes Bush lingered in a Florida classroom after being told of the second attack on the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001.

With the unending 'war on terror' resulting in a heavy tampering of the American Constitution by the current US Administration, and the consequent granting of virtually limitless powers to the President of United States for the duration of the unending war, a real 'Constitutional Conundrum' has been created.
Some people are seriously suggesting that the Constitution should be ignored, because it puts people's rights above Presidential power. Can Americans truly be this stupid?

Donald Rumsfeld, when questioned on Tuesday about whether the Pentagon had any fresh plans for Iran, spewed venom. "The last thing I'm going to do is to start telling you or anyone else in the press, or the world, at what point we refresh a plan or don't refresh a plan and why. It just isn't useful." The performances themselves were unremarkable in that they were what we've come to expect, but it is the ease with which they are still able to get away with this that drives me to ask, "Can this Republic stand?"
