"We will never back down, we will never give in, and we will never accept anything less than complete victory," Bush said. "I've come to thank you for your valor and to thank you for your patriotism,'' Bush told more than 3,000 troops and their families at an outdoor speech. He said their dedication is helping win the war on terror. ``Because of your courage, every day is Independence Day."

Army officials also confirmed that Mr. Green had served in the same company as three soldiers who were ambushed in June at a checkpoint in Yusufiya. Two soldiers who survived that ambush were taken prisoner by insurgents and later killed and mutilated. Army investigators have been looking into whether the attack was in retaliation for the rape and killing of the Iraqi family.

Defining rape and murder in a war zone?
http://www.phillyburbs.com/pb-dyn/news/137-07062006-679974.html
Former soldier Steven D. Green was arrested last week in North Carolina and charged with raping an Iraqi woman and killing her and three members of her family while he was stationed at Mahmoudiyah, Iraq, last March.
If found guilty, he faces the death penalty. Four other members of Green's unit, the 502nd Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, are under investigation. The Mahmoudiyah incident is one in a recent series of military investigations of murders by U.S. troops in Iraq. Four soldiers face murder charges in the deaths of three Iraqi detainees in Salaheddin Province in May. Seven Marines and a Navy Corpsman face murder charges in the death of an Iraqi man in Hamandiyah in April. The Marine Corps is also investigating the deaths of 24 Iraqi civilians in Haditha last November.

After three years of war, allegations of U.S. soldiers abusing civilians often draw more media attention in the United States than in Iraq. And they generate little more than perfunctory statements from Iraq's leaders, who depend on American troops for their political and physical survival.

However, such reports do serve to motivate insurgents, who seize upon them for propaganda value. The allegations also undermine public confidence in the U.S.-backed government and complicate America's hopes of reducing forces.

U.S. defense readied for N. Korea test
In the past, U.S. officials have said the fledgling missile defense system, while still being tested, has been made “operational” many times since taking shape in 2004. But they have never specified a specific moment.

Ok, so the world is focused on: 1) The atrocity of the Israelis against the Palistinians 2) The "aggression" of North Korea's test launching missiles 3) The shuttle flaws and problems
What is it that we are being directed away from?
Could it be: 1) the Somalia "thing"? 2) Russia's "sounding up" of their currency? 3) The failure of threats to move Iran to capitulate? 4) The impending collapse of the world economy (a pandemic)?

So when do we get invaded to remove the rogue government that spies on its own people, gases its own people during anti War protests, stages "terrorist" attacks, holds crooked elections, attacks other nations without cause, and uses torture on innocent people looking for WMD that don't exist?
