Bush ignores hundreds of laws
XXXXXXXXX Bush has quietly claimed the authority to disobey more than 750 laws enacted since he took office, asserting that he has the power to set aside any statute passed by Congress when it conflicts with his interpretation of the Constitution.

WHAT THE FUCK?

Attack Iran, Ignore the Constitution
The founders of the American Republic were deeply concerned that the President's power to make war might become the vehicle for tyranny. So they crafted a Constitution that included checks and balances on presidential power, among them an independent Congress and judiciary, an executive power subject to laws written by Congress and interpreted by the courts, and an executive power to repel attacks but not to declare or finance war.

U.S. rejects Iran inspection offer -
A reminder that Iran's activities are building nuclear power stations and making fuel rods for the same, activities which Iran are legally allowed to do under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which both the US and Iran (but not Israel) have signed. Article VI of the Constitution of the United States states clearly, "This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land." In demanding that Iran stop making fuel for their power reactors, George Bush has broken the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, and in so doing, once again stands guilty or breaking the laws of the United States of America, and defying the Constitution of the United States, which his oath of office compels him to uphold. Why isn't Congress impeaching Bush for violating the Constitution?

Colbert Lampoons Bush at White House Correspondents Dinner-- President Not Amused?
Colbert also made biting cracks about missing WMDs, “photo ops” on aircraft carriers and at hurricane disasters, melting glaciers and Vice President Cheney shooting people in the face. He advised the crowd, "if anybody needs anything at their tables, speak slowly and clearly on into your table numbers and somebody from the N.S.A. will be right over with a cocktail. " Bush quickly turned from an amused guest to an obviously offended target as Colbert’s comments brought up his low approval ratings and problems in Iraq.

Attorney General Gonzales defends Iraq war to 6th graders
A 12-year-old at the other end of the table had a question. "What do you think about the war?" he asked.
Gonzales put down his hamburger. "One thing you have to remember is that sometimes people have to die so we can all live in freedom. That's always been the case." "I think they should end the war," Maurice said. "You know what, I think everybody wants the war to end as soon as possible," Gonzales said. "I really do. Nobody wants young American soldiers to die, including the president." "If the president made us go to war with Iraq, why doesn't he go over there and fight the war?" Christian May asked. "Why doesn't he go do that?" Gonzales responded. "He's sort of the commander in chief. He's kind of leading the troops. That's what happens in wars. You have people making the plans and making the decisions . . . and then you have people who make sure those directives are carried out."
At that moment, a Justice Department public relations officer suggested that the onlooking reporter leave the two to "chat freely."

Fried Rice leaked defense info to AIPAC lobbyist
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/21/AR2006042101648_pf.html
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice leaked national defense information to a pro-Israel lobbyist in the same manner that landed a lower-level Pentagon official a 12-year prison sentence, the lobbyist's lawyer said Friday.

Let The AIPAC Spy Trial Begin
Shutting down illicit conduits for classified information is not a negative for most Americans. If, at the behest of owners and financial backers, the mainstream press and Middle East think tanks really do spend such a great amount of time scouring the branches of government for agents willing to release classified information of interest to and trafficked to Israel, the behavior should be stopped. Many think tanks, functioning as stealth lobbies, seek an unfair advantage and influence through access to classified information. Taking away the motivation to seek and traffic classified information functions as a kind of policy "regulation FD", small investors, or in this case, small stakeholders in US policymaking, won't be so easily outmaneuvered by corrupt "inside traders" like AIPAC.

The AIPAC classified information case is reportedly at the center of a rare FBI quest to retrieve documents from the archives of a dead journalist.

With the unending 'war on terror' resulting in a heavy tampering of the American Constitution by the current US Administration, and the consequent granting of virtually limitless powers to the President of United States for the duration of the unending war, a real 'Constitutional Conundrum' has been created.

Some people are seriously suggesting that the Constitution should be ignored, because it puts people's rights above Presidential power. Can Americans truly be this stupid?

When asked on Monday about administration plans for an attack on Iran, including the use of nuclear bunker-buster bombs as laid out by Seymour Hersh in his New Yorker article, "The Iran Plans," George Bush was derisively dismissive. "What you're reading is wild speculation, which is-it's kind of a, you know, happens quite frequently here in the nation's capital." Donald Rumsfeld, when questioned on Tuesday about whether the Pentagon had any fresh plans for Iran, spewed venom. "The last thing I'm going to do is to start telling you or anyone else in the press, or the world, at what point we refresh a plan or don't refresh a plan and why. It just isn't useful." The performances themselves were unremarkable in that they were what we've come to expect, but it is the ease with which they are still able to get away with this that drives me to ask, "Can this Republic stand?"

Vice President Dick Cheney directed his then-chief of staff, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, on July 12, 2003 to leak to the media portions of a then-highly classified CIA report that Cheney hoped would undermine the credibility of former Ambassador Joseph C. A Defiant Sheen Challenges Official 9/11 Fable on National TV

We now know that Al Qaeda had nothing to do with the London bombings in July 2005. This is the conclusion of the British government's official inquiry report leaked to the British press on April 9. We now also know that the U.S. military is deliberately misleading Iraqis, Americans and the rest of the world about the extent of Al Qaeda's involvement in the Iraqi insurgency. This was reported in The Washington Post on April 10, on the basis of internal military documents seen by that newspaper.

XXXXXXXXX George WMD Bush and Donald Rumsfeld, the defence secretary, are under intense pressure to prove to the American public that Iraq is not slipping into anarchy and civil war. An effective military campaign could provide the White House with a bounce in the polls before the mid-term congressional elections in November.

"Will the U.S. use the 'Fallujah Option' on Bagdad?"
What these influential warmongers openly call for is the "pacification" of Baghdad: a brutal firestorm by U.S. forces, ravaging both Sunni insurgents and Shiite militias in a "horrific" operation that will inevitably lead to "skyrocketing body counts," as warhawk Reuel Marc Gerecht cheerfully wrote last week in the ever-bloodthirsty editorial pages of The Wall Street Journal. Gerecht's war whoop quickly ricocheted around the right-wing media echo chamber and gave public voice to the private counsels emanating from a group whose members now comprise the leadership of the U.S. government: The Project for the New American Century.

Bush Leaked to Show People 'the Truth'
On the Subject of Leaks, a Talkative President Runs Dry
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/04/10/AR2006041001500.html
President Bush was generous of word yesterday when he took questions from a group of students at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
"I'll be glad to opine on it," he said on the topic of immigration.
"Kind of rambling here," he observed after giving a lengthy discourse on the benefits of freedom.
"I'm getting wound up," he confessed on the subject of protectionism.
"I'm not going to filibuster, I promise," he said, midway through an 865-word answer to a question about governing philosophy.
But then a second-year master's student asked about "Prosecutor Fitzgerald" and White House leaks to punish a critic. You could practically hear the zipper sealing the president's lips.
"Yes, no, I, this is, there's an ongoing legal proceeding which precludes me from talking a lot about the case," the president finally managed to say. All he could answer, Bush said, was that he declassified a National Intelligence Estimate because "it made sense for people to see the truth."
That answer neatly encapsulated the White House's response to the CIA leak imbroglio: No comment and non sequitur.
As for the non sequitur, it's true that Bush declassified the NIE, on July 18, 2003. But this was after vice presidential aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby had done his leaking -- with Bush and Vice President Cheney's blessing, Libby has testified. And the NIE said nothing about administration critic Joseph C. Wilson IV and his CIA-employed wife, whose unmasking started the whole scandal.
Nor is the White House's no-comment ending the questioning. Bush had no problem commenting on an ongoing legal proceeding when he said he believed that Tom DeLay (R-Tex.), the indicted former House majority leader, was innocent. "Presidential prerogative," White House spokesman Scott McClellan said then.
Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.), the Senate Judiciary Committee chairman, recommends that Bush exercise his prerogative again. "I think that there has to be a detailed explanation precisely as to what Vice President Cheney did, what the president said to him, and an explanation from the president as to what he said so that it can be evaluated," Specter said on "Fox News Sunday."
The White House, evidently, is unmoved by Specter's suggestion. McClellan referred 16 times in his briefings yesterday to the "ongoing" leak case as his reason for not commenting -- as when CBS News's Bill Plante tried to plumb the timing of the leaks.
"You're getting into questions about an ongoing legal proceeding," the spokesman warned.
"No, it's a timing question," the reporter corrected.
"We are not going to comment on it while it's ongoing," McClellan persisted.
"I'm not asking about the investigation," Plante pointed out.
"We're not going to do anything that would jeopardize an ongoing matter," came the inevitable reply.
As the questioning continued, McClellan offered that he would like nothing more than to dish about the leak case. "It's not a question of whether or not we would like to talk more about it," he pleaded.
The silence on the leaks is quite at odds with the president's increasingly garrulous public personality. His Iraq speeches are growing more frequent, and more confessional. "We have learned from our mistakes," he confided to the SAIS crowd, which answered each of his usual applause lines with silence.
Students signed and circulated an anti-Bush petition before the event, but the president, his jacket open, stepping away from the lectern, retained good cheer even punting difficult questions.
"I don't mean to be dodging the question, although it's kind of convenient in this case," he said when referring to the Pentagon a question about Iraq military contractors.
"I get protested all the time," he said cheerfully when asked about his "polarizing" presidency.
Asked about prostitution and human trafficking, he offered: "I will be glad to call Condi."
When a student rose and said he was studying "international energy policy," Bush, anticipating an energy question, interjected: "Oh, good!"
But it was not good. The student asked about Special Counsel Patrick J. Fitzgerald's filing claiming "evidence of a concerted effort by the White House to punish Joseph Wilson."
The president hitched up his suit pants by the belt. He took a sip of water. He stepped away from the podium, then leaned on it with his left elbow.
He put his fingers to his heart when he spoke about declassifying the NIE. "I thought it was important for people to get a better sense for why I was saying what I was saying," he reasoned.
That was preceded and followed by the no comment. "You're just going to have to let Mr. Fitzgerald complete his case," Bush said.
By that standard, Bush may not have to comment until sometime after 2008.

The U.S. military is conducting a propaganda campaign to magnify the role of the leader of al-Qaeda in Iraq, according to internal military documents and officers familiar with the program. The documents explicitly list the "U.S. Home Audience" as one of the targets of a broader propaganda campaign.

"While I listen to you talk about freedom, I see you assert your right to tap my telephone, to arrest me and hold me without charges," said Harry Taylor, a 61-year-old real estate agent. The President hushed boos by saying, "No, wait a sec - let him speak." Mr Taylor went on: "In my lifetime, I have never felt more ashamed of, nor more frightened by my leadership in Washington. I would hope from time to time that you have the humility and the grace to be ashamed of yourself."

An American service member died from wounds Friday in a small-arms attack while on patrol in western Baghdad, the U.S. military said. Two troops also died Thursday, the military said. A roadside blast killed a soldier in Baiji, and a Marine died in combat in Anbar province, west of the capital. The number of U.S. troops killed in the Iraq war stands at 2,347?

The department also said it's looking into what happened, and that Pickett's version is wrong. It claims he was antagonizing the officers. Several people were outside of the school, watching the incident take place, and those witnesses agree with Pickett's story. "Mr. Pickett asked the guy blocking the bus loading zone to move, and the guy told him he would move his car when he got ready to move it," said Englewood coach Alton Jackson.
"At that point I intervened and I went up to the gentleman and said, 'Mr. Pickett is an employee here,' and they said that didn't matter," said Englewood media specialist, Terri Dreisonstok. "'We're with Homeland Security,' and on and on they went, and pretty soon, before you know it, he's handcuffed and slammed against a car," Brinson said. "All the children are watching, they're all upset."

Generals gathered in their masses
Just like witches at black masses
Evil minds that plot destruction
Sorcerers of death's construction
In the fields the bodies burning
As the war machine keeps turning
Death and hatred to mankind
poisoning their brainwashed minds
Oh Lord yeah
Politicians hide themselves away
They only started the war
Why should they go out to fight
They leave that all to the poor
Time will tell on their power minds
Making war just for fun
Treating people just like pawns in chess
Wait 'till their judgment day comes
Now in darkness world stops turning
As the war machine keeps burning
No more war pigs have the power
Hand of God has struck the hour
Day of judgment God is calling
On their knees, the war pigs crawling
Begging mercy for their sins
Satan laughing spreads his wings
Oh Lord yeah

The video also clearly showed the bloody, burning body of a man being dragged through a field. The extremist group, in audio attached to the video, said he was a U.S. helicopter pilot. In its statement, the U.S. military said it confirmed that the two pilots in the downed helicopter had died, and it had recovered "all available remains found on the scene, given the catastrophic nature of the crash."

Bush Administration Media Collusion Memos Surface

Rev. Al Sharpton called the memos "treasonous" and "genocidal" and reiterated his desire for impeachment proceedings to commence. "What we have here is a complete disregard for the law, for what is morally correct and for the will of the people. "We will get to the bottom of this," Sharpton continued, "and heads will roll. Now that their practices of propaganda are common knowledge even Americans with limited political awareness will demand change."

Bill Frist took a more defensive stance. "Of course it raises some concerns, but we can't let this issue be blown out of proportion. Of course there have to be media guidelines. Hell, if we want to plant I.D. chips in people and torture their loved ones until they break, we will. I know the idea of governmental control over what the media can or cannot say during wartime may be an uncomfortable topic for some to digest, but it is a necessary fact of life when our enemies are trying to kill us."

“Among the expenditures: purchases of camouflage suits, sniper scopes, night-vision binoculars, a thermal imager and other material described in foundation records as ‘security’ equipment. Abramoff, a legendary lobbyist particularly close to former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay (R-TX), is also a fierce supporter of Israel—”a super-Zionist,” one associate says.

US Army War College: NO PROOF SADDAM GASSED THE KURDS!
http://www.whatreallyhappened.com/helms.html
This is serious stuff, because the US Army War College tells us that 1.4 million Iraqi civilians have died as a result of the sanctions, which is 3,000 times more than the number of Kurds who supposedly died of gassing at the hands of Saddam.

No yellow ribbons from this ex-marine
http://onlinejournal.com/artman/publish/article_654.shtml
Almost three years ago, probably in response to one of my scathing articles denouncing US foreign policy, I received an email from a soldier’s mom which became “a keeper.” It was respectful, ending . . ."Regardless of your opinions on both the war and US foreign policy, I hope it’s in your heart to support OUR troops.” A most difficult request, indeed!
It’s a topic that even the most dedicated anti-war activists amongst us would rather sweep under the carpet. In our daily dealings with family, peers, friends and neighbors, when the subject of “troop support” surfaces, one often accedes to a condescending level of support for the “young soldiers” who are fighting in Iraq, Afghanistan . . . or just serving in the military.
We seem to get better and better at political correctness and rationalization as time goes by, or as circumstances dictate. Grouping soldiers by age is probably a face saving way to whitewash, to decriminalize the actions by some in the military: those who do not yet know better. We prefer not to blame those soldiers who kill and destroy; after all, it’s their job. They are just following orders from their commanders.
And, we certainly don’t want to embarrass the political leadership that brought about this mayhem; after all, they were “duped” by flawed intelligence. Furthermore, the consent for war was not only bipartisan, but overwhelming by those “in the know.”
And, most importantly, we mustn’t blame ourselves; after all, what did we know about those faraway peoples and places? Ours was fear of terrorism, our call to arms 9/11.
Perhaps these phony reasons, this illusory rationale, bring us to that uncomfortable issue of having to support the troops. The question of morality for the troops, or morality for the government, or our own morality, is one that begs not to be asked. Not out loud. And, if morality is not the test, what other choice do we have but to support the troops?
A bold pronouncement saying, “I do not support the troops,” is not something that you expect to read or to hear in the mainstream media. And I hadn’t . . . not until March 27, when a former marine of the Vietnam era had his sentiments unmistakably expressed in a letter sent to The Oregonian. Defiant and angry, he started his letter to the editor this way: “OK, if no one else will say it, I’ll say it: ‘I do not support the troops.’” No words minced with this marine . . . as he stood tall, at attention, with a “semper fidelis” to truth!
A paragraph in his letter summed up how he felt: “When I was 18 and as stupid as all the troops over there now, including the square-jawed, talking-head generals, I was supposed to be bringing democracy to a Third World country. It was baloney then and it’s baloney now. All we did (I was a grunt in the Marines) was make a thousand Viet Cong for every one we killed. And the ones I killed have haunted me since.”
Maybe A.B. was a “stupid grunt” at that tender age fighting in the jungles half a world away . . . but what he saw and did in Nam turned the lights on for him, humanized him; and that “stupidity” did transform into wisdom, not just for him but for the rest of us.
What’s wrong with our nation? Why are the military, Capitol Hill, the White House . . . and the rest of us watching this Vietnam re-enactment in Iraq without batting an eye?
Perhaps our marine gave us a partial answer by saying in his letter that war is for cowards, finishing his letter: “War gives the Pentagon’s cowardly bureaucrats, the federal government’s cowardly politicians, and America’s citizen cowards the chance to try to convince themselves that they’re not the cowards they know they are.”
We can and should support troops-to-be, but do so before they become troops. We should post a warning sign, and disclaimer, in all recruiting stations. Prospective enlistees should be told that their new employer will not be the Department of Defense, but the Department of War; and that their service will not be in the defense of freedom and democracy, but in the building of an empire for America’s powerful elite. And that their countrymen, for all the yellow ribbons and pseudo-patriotic talk, will ultimately blame them for the added terrorism they instigate with their wars. Just like there is truth in lending, we should demand truth in recruitment.
And the most important part of the disclaimer should be: That following orders is not a defense at all – not amoral orders. It’s not Bush, or Cheney or Rumsfeld who will be blamed when they pull the trigger to kill or to maim; or when they disrupt the lives of others, whatever excuse or pretense. As soldier for the empire, you are the aggressor, the bad guy . . . not those you face who are defending their own country, whether you call them terrorists or insurgents. American soldiers should not be deceived into thinking of themselves as liberators when they, in fact, become captive or casualties to memories that will haunt them for the rest of their lives . . . even those with a callous conscience.
We should support young people, yes. But we must do it before they become troops; for there are many nations to conquer and, for now, none to defend from. And that applies not only to the regular services, but also the Reserves and the National Guard; all equally disposable to the Pentagon, and the military-industrial complex it serves.
Perhaps if we had a conscript military -- one designed for true national defense, instead of a volunteer army, we wouldn’t have to support the troops; for the troops, you may rest assured, would not be today in Iraq.
Semper Fi, ex-Marine; may peace inhabit your soul! This ex-Airman salutes your honesty and your loyalty to truth.

So when do we get invaded to remove the rogue government that spies on its own people, gases its own people during anti War protests, stages "terrorist" attacks, holds crooked elections, attacks other nations without cause, and uses torture on innocent people looking for WMD that don't exist?
